My name is Jin Calta. I am a mechanical engineer and product designer, but above all a father of three children. The idea for a children's balance bike with a speed limiter came from my own need.

My child kept riding away on the balance bike and didn’t respond to instructions. I had to run after them.
I noticed the same problem with other parents. Two-year-olds rush downhill uncontrollably and don’t perceive the risk. And when they ride, parents run. Sometimes with adrenaline in their veins and dark scenarios in their minds.
I started thinking about how to solve this technically – how to give parents peace of mind without taking away children’s joy of movement. That’s how SPLIM was created: the first balance bike with an adjustable speed limiter and the safest balance bike in the world. The name SPLIM comes from the words speed limiter.
I carried the idea in my head for a long time. I kept asking myself: Why hasn’t anyone built this yet?
I realized that success would only come with a smart technical solution – light, compact, simple, and easy to adjust. Thanks to my engineering background and many years of product development experience, I was able to find such a solution and began designing the first prototype.
To fully dedicate myself to the project, I left my job and founded SPLIM in January 2025.
When we started using SPLIM at home
My second child was already starting to ride the SPLIM. My wife immediately fell in love with it and used it every day. Our daughter quickly learned to ride and confidently handled even steep downhill rides.
Trips with the kids suddenly became much easier. We could truly enjoy our family outings and even let the grandparents take our daughter out on the balance bike without worry. SPLIM made our lives significantly easier.
That’s when I realized the true potential of this idea. My mission is to bring the same joy of family outings to other families as well.
SPLIM is not just a new balance bike. It’s a new level of safety for children, comfort for parents, and joy of movement for the whole family.
